The holidays often invoke feelings of unity, family and plenty of food – more than we really need.  The cosmetic surgeons at Hello Beautiful Center for Weight-Loss & Cosmetics are encouraging their clients to keep the weight off during the holidays by kicking off their weight-loss challenge during the week of November 28^th, just in time for those New Year’s resolutions.  Those interested in learning about the weight loss program can stop by the open house between 2pm – 7pm from November 28^th – December 2^nd or during normal business hours after that timeframe at their Vinings location at 4375 Cobb Pkwy, Suite C Atlanta.

National obesity trends suggests about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese.  Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese. Dr. Nathaniel Johnson, III agrees, “A lot of our clients are clinically obese when they come to us to discuss cosmetic procedures, oftentimes trying to combat obesity.”  He continues, “As a doctor with over 20 years of experience caring for patients, I am committed to help us find ways to trim harmful fat that can cause hypertension, Type II diabetes and heart disease which can be corrected with a healthier lifestyle and weight-loss.”

The Hello Beautiful Weight Loss Challenge will not only be a challenge to give many a head start on typical New Year’s resolution weight goals, but its secondary goal is to help feed the homeless during this time of critical need.  Dr. Johnson explains, “Not only is this a great time to get a head start on weight goals for the new year, but there are many homeless men, women and children that will benefit from our conscious efforts.”  For those who participate in the Hello Beautiful Weight-loss Challenge a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Atlanta Mission, an organization that provides emergency care and shelter for the homeless.  “We have two goals with this,” shares Dr. Johnson, “We are combating obesity by becoming conscious of our weight goals and taking action while also realizing there are many who don’t have the luxury of eating as much as they like whenever they like.  We applaud the efforts of the Atlanta Mission and are pleased they will benefit from our campaign.”  Click here for full details.

We had a wonderful time at the 2nd Anuual Big Hat Brunch with Founder of All About Me, Jerika Head. This event honored women from all walks of life being in support of the fight against cancer. Dr. Nathaniel Johnson led the health and wellness education forum in the ‘Ask the Doctor’ feature with a panel of medical professionals.  There was uplifting entertainment and several unique activities remembering the lives of the ones that lost the battle of cancer and honoring the ones who have survived the battle.

“Hat-titude” All White Big Hat Brunch” is a burgeoning trend of new social events for women; however, this event was not solely about gathering, it was about a purpose! The goal of the event was to provide education on the causes and effects of cancer and ultimately become the vehicle of awareness and preventative measures against this disease by hosting a fundraiser brunch to assist with research to American Cancer Society.

Dr. Johnson graduated at the top percentile of his class from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he became the president of the Student National Medical Association. Dr. Johnson relocated to Atlanta and is one of the top Cosmetic and Laparoscopic surgeons in the area.  He completed a Categorical Internship at Emory University and then went on to the department of Gynecological Obstetrics. While at Emory University, Dr. Johnson worked with the late Mayor Maynard Jackson and former Mayor Shirley Franklin to establish the Welcome House Home for the Homeless. He was also on the board of Antioch Urban Ministries and started Matthew’s Place, a 28-bed housing facility for those living with AIDS; Recovery Through Christ, an addiction recovery program which has assisted over 8000 men and women from drugs to date; a school, church and clinic in Haiti which operates all year long since 1996. Dr. Johnson has also served as the Medical Director of the General missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia for 10 years which has had over 800 churches on the roster.
